Infiniband Overview Print E-mail
Course Length - 1 Day

Course Description

InfiniBand is a new High Speed, Enterprise Wide, I/O technology.  InfiniBand provides for high performance I/O used in networked computing platforms and defines the requirements for creating an InfiniBand network.  The benefits of InfiniBand over existing technologies include more scale for growth, higher speed data transfer and easy integration with legacy systems.  In this one day InfiniBand course you will gain an understanding of InfiniBand technology and an overview of the major InfiniBand components and their functions.

Course Objectives

In this class you will learn:

  • Reasons for InfiniBand
  • Benefits of InfiniBand
  • InfiniBand Architecture and Components
    • Fabric
    • Channel Adapters
    • Switches & Routers
    • Protocol Stack and Layer Functions
    • Management Functions
  • Comparison to Existing Technologies

Target Audience

This One-Day InfiniBand Overview course is designed to provide a foundation in the technology.  It is appropriate for a variety of individuals ranging from System Designers to Sales and Service Engineers, IT Professionals, Developers, Network Managers and anyone looking to gain an understanding of the technology and its capabilities.

If you have read the entire InfiniBand specification, or are looking for advanced training on InfiniBand, our Three-Day InfiniBand Workshop course would be the appropriate course to take.

Course Prerequisites

Course attendees should have an understanding of the various computer architectures and a general understanding of networking and inter-networking concepts.
