Cellular/PCS Voice and Data Networks |
|
|
| Course Length - 3 Days Lecture | | | | | | Course Description Cellular and PCS networks have become a critical part of the communication environment for enterprises and individuals. First established for voice transmission, today’s cellular networks add data communication capabilities and soon high-speed Internet access will be realized in the third generation (or 3G) systems. This course provides a thorough discussion of the present and future capabilities, technical differences and market objectives of the five major cellular/PCS systems deployed in the US and abroad including: cdmaOne, D-AMPS and GSM. | | | | | Course Objectives: - Have a working knowledge of cellular/PCS concepts and terminology.
- Understand the similarities and differences between D-AMPS, cdmaOne and GSM.
- Recognize the role of government regulation and impediments to world-wide solutions.
- Be aware of the elements and internal functions of cellular voice and data networks.
- Comprehend the markets, technologies and objectives for cellular/PCS evolution.
- Be able to keep up with the rapidly evolving advances in wireless communication.
- Recognize the differences between voice and data communication in cellular/PCS.
- Distinguish between the goals and realities of evolution to 3G and beyond.
| | | | | Who Should Attend? - Non-technical personnel who desire to understand the business case and market opportunities for cellular and PCS communication and position themselves to take advantage of current and future cellular/PCS capabilities. (Line and staff management, contract and personnel supervisors, marketing and sales people, finance specialists…)
- Technical personnel will develop an basic understanding of the similarities, differences, operational characteristics and upgrade strategies of each of the six cellular/PCS solutions currently deployed. (Technical staff and managers, engineers, technicians, system administrators…)
