IT Governance and CobiT 4.1: A Comprehensive Overview

Print E-mail

Course Description:

For many enterprises, information and the technology it supports are among its most valuable assets.  To Manage IT Effectively an organization must understand and internalize the concepts of Value, Risk and Control.  These concepts can also be described as the “core of IT Governance”.

There are numerous Best Practice Methodologies and Frameworks that can be used.  For example, the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) provides a holistic framework for managing IT Services.  Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (CobiT®) provides a set of good practices across a domain and process framework and presents activities in a manageable and logical structure.

Ultimately, to make IT more effective, IT should:

• Align IT to the business requirements
• Organize IT activities leveraging people, processes, partners and technology
• Identify resources required
• Define control objectives and measure performance
Assess controls

This awareness seminar provides information on IT Governance and how to implement it effectively.  In addition, it provides an overview of how to use frameworks, such as ITIL, COBIT, and quality methodologies such as Six Sigma and TQM to add value to the enterprise.
