Course Description

You will learn how to build non-trivial applications with EJB: this includes learning what application programmers can rely on in every EJB product, and where vendors have flexibility. You will also understand various design patterns that are built into the EJB specification, and identify ones to apply in your distributed systems design. By the end of this course, you will have gained the confidence in your ability to design and implement all of the bean types, and fell comfortable using EJBs in future projects.

 
  
Course Topics:
  • Understand the basics of EJB 
  • Model and implement solutions using all the EJB types 
  • Map entity beans to a database using both bean-managed and container-managed beans 
  • Utilize the services (transactions, security, connection pooling, instance pooling) of the EJB container for components you develop 
  • View the big picture of where EJBs fit in with other components like JSPs and Servlets 
  • Design solutions using some of the most common and up-to-date design patterns used in the industry today
 
     
Practical Work

Students will have the opportunity to build a simple Java program, servlets using WSAD v5.
